The sixty Catholic Schools in the Diocese are part of a system of schools that
operate under the leadership and co-ordination of the Diocesan education authorities,
who are directly responsible to Bishop Michael Malone.
Catholic Education in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle
is an integral part of the Church's mission finding its authenticity in Jesus
Christ as its focus, source of strength and inspiration;
- is grounded in the scriptures, in the teachings and great traditions of
faith and prayer in the Church and the witness of its past and present saints
and scholars;
- challenges all to contribute to transforming the wider world through active
living of their faith;
- recognises the family as the true context of the education process, promotes
the partnership of home, parish and school, and acknowledges their right to
participation;
- values the uniqueness and importance of
each individual;
- nurtures the whole person towards achieving
full potential, recognising that Catholic Education is a lifelong process;
- assists students to become discerning,
self disciplined and contributing members of society, promoting the gospel
values of justice, reconciliation and concern for the poor and marginalised
Our Catholic Schools are committed to:
